Thomas absolutely loves cheese sauce so today I decided to make him a cod fish pie for tea, he really enjoyed the tasty flavors and I was happy that he had a nutritional tea packed full of goodness. In this blog I have detailed a step by step guide on the ingredients I used and how I made yummy fish pie for my baby.
Ingredients
- Cheddar Cheese
- Potato
- Cod
- Peas
- Broccoli
- Whole Milk
- Leek
Method
Peel and chop the potato then bring to the boil and allow to simmer until tender. While the potato’s are boiling, chop the cod into flakes and grate the cheese. Add some whole cows milk to a pan and heat, add the cheese and flaked cod, bring to the boil and allow to simmer for around 10 mins – While the sauce is simmering add the peas, broccoli and leek. Mash the softened potato and spoon the cod cheese sauce into a bowl with some mashed potato.
Thomas really enjoyed the creamy fish pie, the cod didn’t have that fishy smell that some fish have so it went down easily with the cheese sauce and vegetables. Thomas had no problems eating the fish pie, I even put some of the pie into individual storage containers to freeze.
There is something very rewarding about making your own homemade baby food for your little one, I love how it makes me feel when I see him enjoying my homemade food.

Ingredients:
- Potatoes
- Skinless cod
- Frozen Peas
- Frozen Corn
- Full fat milk
Peel the potatoes and wash, cutting them into equal slices, place the potatoes into a pan with the fish, corn, peas and milk. Bring the ingredients to the boil and simmer for around 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender. Take the fish from the pan slicing into small chunks removing any small bones; then mash the potato and vegetables along with the fish and some of the cooking liquid until it is the desired consistency. Check the temperature of the fishermans pie before serving to your little one. If you are refrigerating the rest of the mixture use within 24 hours, otherwise if you are freezing then use within a couple of months.
This recipe is one of Thomas’ favorites, he really enjoys the creamy flavor of fishermans pie along with the soft mashed potato which makes it easy to eat. I believe that baby Fishermans pie can be given as one of babys first foods, simply use baby formula milk instead of full fat milk and puree into a smooth consistency.
