On my last blog I wrote about my concern about Thomas not fully walking, it did worry me seeing him crawling everywhere when other babies his age and younger were walking comfortably around him. I think especially with Thomas being a big baby looking older then his years that made it worse! Mums often say to me that he physically looks like a 2 year old, but his cute little baby face and how he puts himself accross its obvious that he’s younger then he looks. With my boy being born breached there was concern with his hips, he has had a few xrays on his hips to ensure they are ok, because of the position he was cramped in when he was in my womb there was the chance that he may have complications with walking as his legs were pretty much like frogs legs sticking out at either side. I think this made the concern for him not walking yet worse BUT and I say this with a huge smile on my face! Thomas has started to walk properly now he walks around the front room, he walks about at playgroups, he walks around the house….Its fantastic! There are times when he will drop down to his knees and crawl because he thinks its quicker at the time, but the majority of his time is spent walking, or waddling :-) You wouldnt believe how much relief I feel seeing my little man walking, I am so proud of him.

My mum was saying that I didnt walk until I was 18 months, I think it just depends on the baby. Thomas pefected the crawl, he was so fast and efficient, I suppose he had no reason to be in any hurry to walk, plus with him being a big boy its harder to get your balance. Well panic over my boy is walking, and his hips are fine :-) I suppose you could now say that I have a little toddler, my babe is growing up so quickly.

Thomas is snooring away having a nap, so I thought I would write a quick blog….. I’m a little concerned about his walking, or lack of at the moment! He is 17 months old today and he still uses crawling as his main way to get around. He has perfected the crawl, he charges like a bullet and can get to where he wants to go with ease. If he wants to carry a toy he will move on his knees so he can hold a toy in his hand. Thomas can walk, he is a little wobbly still but he can walk from one end of the room to the other, every night usually before bath Nathan and I clear away all the toys and then sit at either end of the room encouraging Thomas to walk between us. Thomas hasĀ  a big beaming smile on his face as he waddles up and down arms out to steady himself. All the babies of the same age I know from play groups and family are all walking already, Thomas is a big lad he’s never been a small baby which is may be why he’s not fully walking, but as a first time parent I am a little worried. I don’t know if this is normal, or how long I should leave it before getting him checked out?

I would appreciate any similar experiences anyone may have to put my mind at rest. I understand all kids are different their all individuals, but I would love to hear from anyone who has any similar experiences.

Thomas is moving about, I best sign off now thanks for reading xx
