I am feeling really tired today, the day is running away and I can’t seem to get motivated to do anything. Nathan and I took turns in going back to bed this morning for a cat nap after Thomas had another bad night not sleeping. He has a cold so his nose is all bunged up and he keeps coughing and sneezing he just cant get settled while he’s feeling rotten. People say that babys sleep better the older they get, Thomas seems to be getting worse as he gets older. He slept brilliantly up until around 3 months ago  but now he’s a terrible sleeper. I know it doesn’t help with him teething, he is cutting quite a few teeth at the same time which has left him with a nasty nappy rash. Now his sleeping is made worse with this cold he has, I hope he gets better soon, I hate seeing him ill and he’s had enough illnesses recently.

Last night Thomas started to become unsettled around midnight, I gave him some milk to help relax him and some Calpol for his cough then put him back to bed. Well every 2 mins or so he would cry out, roll over and sit up in his cot. I went in comforted him then went back out of his room only to go in 2 mins later to do it all again. I even tried him in my bed next to me for a short while but he didnt settle there either. Thomas finally fell asleep around 3am from exhaustion after the 2nd bottle of milk.

Not sleeping at night has left him tired and irritable during the day, as I write this blog I have got my foot on his buggy trying to rock him to sleep, whenever he gets close to sleep he coughs and wakes himself up. Fingers crossed he will sleep soon he needs to catch up on what he has lost over the past few nights.  Nathan is back at work in a couple of days I hope Thomas is sleeping by then, you see Nathan works for himself so if he cant get enough sleep his work will suffer. I have just checked Thomas looks like he is finally having his nap, now i’ll have to go and get some housework done while I have chance – The joys of being a first time parent.

Thomas is just over 10 months old he is becoming a little handful to say the least, crawling now so he is into everything including all the wires, plugs, remote controls and generally anything he shouldn’t be into he is! As soon as I go into the kitchen I can hear his little chuckle as he races to follow me where he just loves messing with the kitchen chairs and washing machine, I am finding it difficult to get anything done these days. I love watching him crawl though and explore its great he is just starting to go onto his knees and pull himself up on things. With his new found independence Thomas is becoming stubborn a trait he has from his dad :) He doesn’t like napping in his cot during the day, gone are the days were I can put him in his cot after his lunch and come down and have my lunch then tidy up, do some batch cooking, write a blog in peace and generally enjoy the hour or so to myself! No such look now,  put him in his cot he rolls over onto his belly then that’s it hes crawling up and down the cot or he’s sat up smiling. Taking him out for a walk in his buggy usually does the trick now, he is asleep for the time were out and then wakes up shortly after getting in. I do hope this is just a phase as I just cant seem to get anything done around the house.

I don’t want to complain though as he is just exploring and getting into his own now I love watching him develop and grow.  Another milestone he has reached in his 10 months is a bottom tooth, a little white tooth is poking through at the bottom of his mouth, it is so cute! Trying to brush his tooth is a battle every day as he likes to put his tongue over his tooth but its so funny chasing after him with the toothbrush.

It is unbelievable how much babies develop in their first year, they go from a tiny fragile newborn who sleeps most of the day to an inquisitive little person with their own personality exploring the world.

I cant go without telling you about Thomas and the hoover! We have one of those Henry hoover which Thomas has taken a serious dislike to I think its mostly the noise it makes. I caught him the other day sat near the hoover prodding the pipe with one finger then turning and quickly crawling away and then going back to prod it again! He crawls into the kitchen and the first thing he does is look to see where the hoover is. On the odd occasion I have used the hoover as a safety gate to deter him from crawling into the kitchen when cooking.
