Thomas is now 13 month old – I havn’t had a lie in, in the morning for 13 months now. Most mornings it doesnt bother me as Nathan gets up early for work and I usually have a lot to sort out for mums and tots groups, or work. But at the weekend especially on a Sunday I would love just to be able to lie in for a little while! Im not asking for the whole morning, perhaps until 9am? Thomas was awake at 6am today it was so hard to get motivated. I know I shouldnt really complain as he is a good sleeper and he does go to bed at 7pm so it is kind of my own fault for not going to bed earlier. The way I see it though is that Thomas has me all day, I dont really have chance to write my blogs or help Nathan out with the business during the day so at night time by the time we have cleared up from tea and done some work it is getting quite late as it is.

I go out to work 2 days a week so I am grateful for Thomas’ early morning wakeup call on those days :-) I have to be in work for 8:30am so its a mad rush in the morning to get Thomas ready. Nathan works hard and long usually into the early hours so I dont like asking him to get up with Thomas at the weekend – Well thats that I am just going to have to put up with it! When Thomas is older I am sure he will want to sleep in more but by then we may have another little one waking us! I thinkĀ  I should just accept that this is all just part and parcel of being a mum to a little one.

Are there any other mums out there who would like to share their experiences of midnight wakes and early morning get up’s? Feel free to leave a comment, make me feel like I”m not the only one.

Ever since Thomas had that spell in hospital he has been waking two to three times a night often guzzling two bottles of milk before he finally settled, then he would sleep in until mid morning. Despite this change in pattern Nathan andĀ  I kept his routine the same in hope that he would return to his pre hospital sleep pattern where he would have his last feed at 7pm then sleep through until around 7am the next day! Well for the past three nights Thomas has been sleeping through it has been brilliant I cant explain how good an uninterrupted full night sleep feels, it makes a world of difference. Thomas has been waking up more refreshed and happy he is also a lot less irritable throughout the day. I dont know what prompted Thomas to begin waking at night, it could have been teething, in which case the dreaded night waking may well return. In the meantime I am making the most of a full nights sleep and enjoying having the energy to take Thomas to the morning play group sessions having lots of fun playing with all the toys and watching him interact with the other children.
