Thomas absolutely loves cheese sauce so today I decided to make him a cod fish pie for tea, he really enjoyed the tasty flavors and I was happy that he had a nutritional tea packed full of goodness. In this blog I have detailed a step by step guide on the ingredients I used and how I made yummy fish pie for my baby.
Ingredients
- Cheddar Cheese
- Potato
- Cod
- Peas
- Broccoli
- Whole Milk
- Leek
Method
Peel and chop the potato then bring to the boil and allow to simmer until tender. While the potato’s are boiling, chop the cod into flakes and grate the cheese. Add some whole cows milk to a pan and heat, add the cheese and flaked cod, bring to the boil and allow to simmer for around 10 mins – While the sauce is simmering add the peas, broccoli and leek. Mash the softened potato and spoon the cod cheese sauce into a bowl with some mashed potato.
Thomas really enjoyed the creamy fish pie, the cod didn’t have that fishy smell that some fish have so it went down easily with the cheese sauce and vegetables. Thomas had no problems eating the fish pie, I even put some of the pie into individual storage containers to freeze.
There is something very rewarding about making your own homemade baby food for your little one, I love how it makes me feel when I see him enjoying my homemade food.

I tried out a new recipe on Thomas today he really enjoyed it the apple in with the chicken and carrots gives it a sweet taste that baby will love. I have struggled a little bit with finding the right chicken recipe, I have tried chicken with sweet potato or chicken and squash but Thomas has never seemed to enjoy these. I was thrilled when he polished off all his tea tonight at last I have finally found a chicken dish that he really enjoys – I am starting to become bored with meat.
Ingredients:
Onion
Carrots
Olive Oil
Chicken
Apples
Chicken Stock
To start with I put a small amount of olive oil into a pan and added the chopped onions, I then added the carrots and chicken stock, heat until boiling and cover o allow to simmer. While the mixture is simmering diceĀ your chicken and apples and add to the pan replacing the lid. Cook the ingredients for around 20 minutes, I always check the chicken is cooked before taking off the heat. Once cooked pour the mixture into a blender and blend to your desired consistency.
Spoon some of the mixture into a bowl and allow to cool before serving, you can also freeze the puree to use at a later date. Chicken stock is really easy to make, many of us eat a roast chicken dinner, simply save the chicken carcass placing it into a large pan along with boiling water and onions, carrots and celery allow to boil for around 30 mins. Seive the pan into a jug leaving you with just chicken stock. Allow the stock to cool overnight in the fridge and scoop the top layer of skin from the stock when it is cold, leaving you with chicken stock you can freeze and use to liven up your babys vegetable or chicken dishes.
