Over the past couple of days my 13 month old baby boy Thomas has started to really pull himself up and stand! I cant believe it. All his other little friends around Thomas’ age are all standing and moving about already, I was beginning to worry about his develop – Mad I know as every baby is an individual and develop at different rates! No one cares who sat up first or walked first when there all at school. I think it was during Thomas 12 month developmental check that worried me a little, the lady assessed him, he was good in all areas apart from him trying to stand, I was told they will give me a call in a couple of months to see if he has started to stand….Well he has so I can tell them when they ring :-)

I was in the kitchen making a drink, Thomas was playing with his little garage making really cute car noises as he moved the cars in the garage. I look round the door to see him stood up at the garage playing with his cars! I couldnt believe it I ran over to him and made a fuss of him – My baby is growing up! He will soon be a toddler getting up to all sorts of trouble.  About an hour later Thomas pulled himself up onto the sofa, playing with his toy Ambulance on the sofa, he looked so cute. He is tall too when he is stood up, around 2 foot 6 inch! Going to be tall like his daddy I think – He can look after him mum :-)

I plan to keep encouraging Thomas to stand, and hopefully he will become more confident in standing and begin to venture to taking his first step. I cant wait for him to start walking as he is getting pretty heavy to carry everywhere, although I am not going to push him, we will just encourage him, set the sights and allow him to follow them.

Thomas is now 13 month old – I havn’t had a lie in, in the morning for 13 months now. Most mornings it doesnt bother me as Nathan gets up early for work and I usually have a lot to sort out for mums and tots groups, or work. But at the weekend especially on a Sunday I would love just to be able to lie in for a little while! Im not asking for the whole morning, perhaps until 9am? Thomas was awake at 6am today it was so hard to get motivated. I know I shouldnt really complain as he is a good sleeper and he does go to bed at 7pm so it is kind of my own fault for not going to bed earlier. The way I see it though is that Thomas has me all day, I dont really have chance to write my blogs or help Nathan out with the business during the day so at night time by the time we have cleared up from tea and done some work it is getting quite late as it is.

I go out to work 2 days a week so I am grateful for Thomas’ early morning wakeup call on those days :-) I have to be in work for 8:30am so its a mad rush in the morning to get Thomas ready. Nathan works hard and long usually into the early hours so I dont like asking him to get up with Thomas at the weekend – Well thats that I am just going to have to put up with it! When Thomas is older I am sure he will want to sleep in more but by then we may have another little one waking us! I think  I should just accept that this is all just part and parcel of being a mum to a little one.

Are there any other mums out there who would like to share their experiences of midnight wakes and early morning get up’s? Feel free to leave a comment, make me feel like I”m not the only one.
