2010 has been an eventful year to say the least both as a new mum and as a First Time Parents Diary blogger. I have really enjoyed growing the First Time Parents Diary blogging site over the past year; sharing my experiences as new mum and the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with it. From the stress of finding out he was breached at 10 days past my due date, and being kept in hospital for an emergency C-Section, going through the terror of colic sleepless nights and having to drive around at 3am to get him to sleep only for him to wake up the minute we get home Thomas’ first tooth, and many more experiences I have shared as a first time parent.  I have loved writing about my thoughts and feelings, I have literally opened up to the world, which does feel a little daunting as I am a private person really. I do hope that one day when Thomas is older he will read my diary and see how much his mum loves him, and have always put him first in everything. I know myself we don’t always appreciate our parents especially during our teenage years, one thing I have learned this year is that being a parent is a full on life changing experience. We literally give everything up for our kids without expecting anything in return because thats what parents do.

First Time Parents Diary has grown throughout 2010 not only in blog I have introduced a new weekly newsletter full of interesting articles, yummy baby food recipes and current baby related discount codes sent direct to your email inbox. If you would like to register your email address to receive my weekly newsletter simply type your email address at the top of this page.  I have also included a sponsors area on the first time parents diary site where you can view many baby related websites who sell all sorts of baby products from maternity clothes to baby toys and much more.

First Time Parents Diary has grown in readers over the year as I have shared more and more experiences. I do hope that readers find my blogs interesting and entertaining as well as informative – I know how scary being a first time  parent is, sometimes its good to see what others new parents are going through and take comfort in the fact your not alone.  If you do have any comments, maybe you have an idea how I can make first time parents diary more user friendly or if you have a topic you would like to see covered more? I am open to any suggestions readers may have and read every comment personally so please feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of this blog.

This has been Thomas’ 2nd Christmas, it sounds strange to say but he has now been with us over two years soon to be three at the strike of midnight tomorrow and two Christmas days and he has only just turned one Its amazing! That’s what being born on December 18th brings. Thomas has definately got a lot more out of Christmas this year, he’s been awake throughout most of the festive celebrations which is one up on last year :-)   His presents are little boys presents now no more rattles or soft toys, he has toy cars and tractors, trains and fire engines basically anything that has wheels that spin round, he loves playing with toy wheels. Thomas was desperate for more age appropriate toys he had a lot of baby toys, but I was looking forward to getting him more toys appropriate for a one year old thats the only bad thing about having a birthday at the end of the year – Its not until the end of the year when you receive new toys and babies develop so much in their first year.  Nathan and I went a bit mad this year getting him toys, our front room looks more like a nursery but he does love his new toys and I can see him getting so much out of them which makes it all worth while.

Christmas 2010 has been great, we have spent most of it at home with family coming round, and out visiting family. I think Christmas Day was a little overwhelming for Thomas, he became very tired in the afternoon so we made the decision to have our Christmas dinner when Thomas was in bed. We didnt end up eating until 8pm which was a little late really it was more like Christmas supper, we didnt have any pudding or cheese just Christmas Dinner.

I am hoping that next year Thomas will be 2 so he should be more alert and used to the excitement enough to enjoy Christmas dinner with his mummy and daddy at a reasonable time.  But overall this Christmas has been very special we have loved playing with Thomas and enjoying the festive season as a family.
