Hi, And Firstly I think I should introduce myself, My Name is Nathan and I am Jen’s husband, and more importantly the Daddy of Thomas. After coming home yesterday from a hard days work at my SEO and web development business, Thomas was really missing his Da-da.

The first thing that happens when I go into the house and announce my presense by shouting BA-BAH, is I get the biggest smile his little cheeks will let him give, followed by the excited wriggle! I then go over and pick him up to get my daddy cuddle – a ritual repeating monday to friday every day when I arrive home – Only yesterday was different.

Upon entering getting my cuddle, he kept coming back for another cuddle, and another, and another – about 10 in total (I consider myself lucky to get two most nights!). After this we get on the floor and have a play for an hour-90 minutes before the bedtime routine begins…. however last night was different.

whilst playing he dirtied his play ring and so we had to wash it, so I took out the inner tube and blew it back up to full size as you have to deflate it to take it out, and put it over him…. well he giggled so much and was so excited by this new ring that we just continuted to play with it for the 90 minutes.

it was then his usual routine of bath, bottle and bed – and tonight he was refusing to goto sleep – until about an hour later after I returned with the shopping, I went in and persuaded him to goto sleep!

A daddy day is a rare day when Thomas is concerned…

I am really looking forward to the next baby swim sessions due to start on Saturday, after the summer break we are ready to get splashy and have lots of fun with our swim friends. The pool we visit is a hydrotherapy pool so it is lovely and warm perfect for little uns, there is 5 babies in the pool each with one adult – We sing all kinds of  rhymes and perform actions in the water, practice holding onto the side, swim from one side to the next in the pool and generally have lots of fun. During our baby swim group we also do very structured and calm submersion with baby to get them used to being underwater. I agree that as long as the submersion is carried out carefully and correctly in a structured way by telling baby every step of the way that submersion’s are good practice for water safety.

I am waiting for Thomas’s swim nappy to arrive, I ordered it online, he has out-grown the swim nappy he used last term he is growing so quickly at the moment – Once the swim nappy arrives it will be all systems go! I believe that being able to swim and having confidence in the water are important skills to have. By introducing Thomas to the water at a young are I hope that it will help him to gain these skills, afterall kids love the pool, they love waterparks I will feel so much better about him going out there and having fun if I know he is a good swimmer. Our swim sessions will also hopefully develop his social skills being around other babies, and act as a fun form of exericise.

Our swim sessions are aimed at babies and young children up to the age of 5, children can progress at their own pace and achieve certain water skill milestones which come with badges and certificates. Once a child has progressed throughout the stages they are usually at the age appropriate for mainstream swimming lessons. Unfortunately the sessions do cost although I do feel they are worth it, we go as a family the three of us, we all love going and spending some quality time together.
